FIFA World Cup 26: Sexual Violence Support is Available 24/7

Jun 10, 2026

As Vancouver welcomes the FIFA World Cup 26, Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre is increasing our capacity to support survivors, community members, visitors, workers, volunteers, and anyone impacted by sexual violence during this period.

You are not alone. Salal is here.

How To Reach Us

If you have experienced sexual assault, harassment, drink spiking, coercion, exploitation, or any other form of sexual violence, you can call

Salal’s 24-Hour Crisis & Information Line:
Lower Mainland: 604-255-6344
Toll-free: 1-877-392-7583

During the FIFA World Cup period, callers can press 3 to speak with someone specifically for “FIFA-related support”

What “FIFA-Related Support” Can Include

You can press 3 on Salal’s 24-Hour Crisis & Information Line if your experience feels connected to the World Cup in any way, including if:

  • You experienced harm at or after a match, viewing party, bar, club, hotel, fan event, house party, or public celebration.
  • You were impacted by drink spiking, alcohol- or drug-facilitated sexual assault, coercion, harassment, or unwanted sexual contact.
  • You feel unsafe because of crowding, transit changes, road closures, street harassment, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, or gender-based violence.
  • You are working, volunteering, serving, hosting, transporting, cleaning, organizing, performing, or otherwise supporting the tournament economy and need confidential support for sexual harassment or harm.
  • You are supporting a friend, family member, colleague, guest, tenant, client, or community member who has experienced sexual harm.
  • You are a survivor and the atmosphere around the tournament is bringing up past trauma.

Your experience of sexual harm does not need to fit a specific category. If it matters to you, it matters to us.

24/7 Hospital Accompaniment

Salal will continue to have staff available 24/7 for hospital accompaniment during the FIFA World Cup period. You can reach a hospital accompaniment staff member by pressing 2.

If you have experienced a recent, within the past 7 days, sexual assault and are considering medical care, forensic evidence collection, STI prevention, emergency contraception, or simply want support navigating the hospital, you can call our crisis line. We can talk through options and, where available, support accompaniment to hospital.

Who We Support

Salal provides free and confidential support for women, Two-Spirit, trans, non-binary, and gender diverse survivors of sexual violence.

We support survivors whether the violence happened recently, years ago, or during the World Cup period. We support people who want to report, people who do not want to report, people who are unsure and would like to consider their justice or healing path, and people who only want someone to listen.

Read more about our approach here.

For Visitors to Vancouver

If you are visiting from another city, province, or country, you are welcome to call Salal. You do not need Canadian health coverage to access our crisis line. If you need medical care, we can walk you through what to ask, where to go, and what support may be available.

For immediate emergencies, please call 9-1-1.

For Workers, Volunteers, and Service Providers

If you are working during the FIFA World Cup period and someone discloses sexual violence to you, you do not need to have all the answers. Listen, believe them, avoid asking investigative questions, and offer options.

You can say:

I’m sorry this happened. It’s not your fault. There is confidential support available through Salal 24/7. Would you like their number?
