At Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre, we believe that media has the power to move us. That’s why every month, we host our very own movie night! We select films that recognize the struggles, accomplishments, and resilience of women across the globe. Join us on April 27th, 2025 at 4:30PM for a screening of the 2005 film North Country. Starring Charlize Theron, the film is inspired by the real life case of Jenson v. Eveleth Taconite Company which changed the face of sexual harassment law. Content warning for sexual violence and underage rape.
Snacks and drinks will be provided as we gather in community and spark critical conversations about the lived experiences experiences of women internationally. The will take place at our transit-accessible Healing Hub in Downtown Vancouver, and details will be shared to attendees closer to the event date. To cover costs and support our wraparound services for survivors tickets will be by donation. If this is not accessible to you at this time, please email leia@salalsvsc.ca to be added to the list. We can’t wait to see you there!
