We Run for Each Other: Beneva Half Marathon & 5K

May 14, 2026

Dear Salal community,

Our annual run is back! You might remember it as the Scotiabank Half Marathon & 5K. This year, it’s the Beneva Half Marathon & 5K, but at its core, it’s still the same: a day where thousands of people come together across the city to move, connect, and show up for causes they care about.

And honestly, some of my favourite Salal memories are from this run.

Before the pandemic, there was something really special about how our community showed up. Seeing staff, volunteers, board, and friends all out there together; running, walking, cheering each other on. Watching people share their pages, support one another, and bring their communities into this work.

It felt like movement building. Like connection. Like community in motion.

And I’ve been missing that.

Because at Salal, we know that healing happens in community. That survivors deserve care, connection, and dignity without having to navigate it alone.

This year, we’re coming back to that. Our theme is: We Run for Each Other.

And it feels especially meaningful right now, to come back together;  to take up space, to reconnect, and honestly, to have some fun while doing something that really supports our work at Salal.

So I wanted to ask: Will you join me, my family, and our Salal team this year?

You can run, walk, or roll. You can fundraise or amplify someone else’s fundraiser.
You can bring your people into it, or just come be part of the day.

However you choose to take part, you’ll be part of something really meaningful.

We run for each other; and it would mean a lot to do this together again. Stay tuned for more fun opportunities in the lead up to race day!

Warmly,
