Streaming For Survivors

Charity streams benefitting survivors of sexualized violence

About Streaming For Survivors

Streaming For Survivors 2024 is right around the corner! From March 23-30, 2024, content creators, gamers, artists, TTRPG players, musicians, streamers, and podcasters will come together with a goal of raising $80,000 for survivors of sexualized violence during Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre’s fourth annual Streaming For Survivors event!

All week long, participants will use their platforms to inspire their followers and communities to donate to survivors and fund Salal‘s life-saving sexual violence support services.

Sexualized violence and sexual misconduct plague online communities. By participating in Streaming for Survivors you are not only supporting the more than 500 survivors currently accessing Salal‘s programs and services, but committing to creating safer digital spaces for people of all genders.

We’re raising $80,000 to help fund the critical care that Salal provides to thousands of survivors every year while also raising awareness to make changes for safer spaces online!

Virtual Workshop

Here is an exciting opportunity to learn from one of Canada’s most iconic lawyers, barbara findlay. She’s known for her ground-breaking equality rights cases argued at the highest court levels in Canada and on March 30th, she’ll be sharing some critical information surrounding trans-rights in this country.

Admission to this online workshop is pay-what-you-can with the suggested donation of $10.

Join us for an eye-opening, online workshop led by lawyer, Salal Board Member, and LGBTQIA+ activist, barbara findlay (she/her), as we delve into the broader implications of recent legislative movements in Canada.

While it may seem that Saskatchewan Premier, Scott Moe’s focus is solely on transgender rights, the reality is far more complex. Through this session, we’ll uncover how the far right’s strategic maneuvers not only endanger the rights of transgender youth but also pose a significant threat to our collective equality rights.

In this workshop, barbara will discuss:

  • The unprecedented risk to our equality rights, which are facing their greatest challenge in the past three decades
  • Understanding Charter protections and the notwithstanding clause: essential knowledge often overlooked
  • Examining the anti-trans movements in New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, and their widespread impact
  • Insight into the Saskatchewan notwithstanding clause and its implications
  • Envisioning the potential political landscape for future generations

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and be better equipped to advocate for inclusivity and equality for all.
